"A Winning 2024 Message On A Silver Platter" [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-14 The New Republic has a great article by Jason Linkins about a potential winning message for Democrats in 2024: Consumer Protection. Linkin goes into detail about the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB) and suggests that this could become the linchpin for an larger Democratic message. As most everyone here knows the CFPB was the brainchild of Sen. Elizabeth Warren. news.yahoo.com/... The article goes on to note the CFPB’s successes and how, so far, the CFPB has survived despite court challenges against its very existance by Republicans. This idea really resonates with me. Just think of how many other key Democratic positions would fit under the umbrella of consumer fairness. It sounds like a brilliantly simple idea to me. Not only would an emphasis on consumer protection remind voters that Democrats are, on so many fronts, fighting for average, everyday citizens, but it would, at the same time, remind voters about how Republicans are in the pockets of the wealthy elites (and would-be oligarchs).
