Governor DeSantis's order cites the presence of more than 20,000 Americans, including many Floridians, who are currently in Israel and unable to return home due to commercial flight cancellations. The order criticizes President Biden for not launching "any form of rescue or evacuation operations," even though the Biden administration announced plans to arrange charter flights for U.S. citizens looking to leave Israel.

What the order fails to clarify is how it will work in tandem with the federal government's efforts. It also leaves unanswered the question of why state resources are being used for an international issue when there are pressing domestic concerns that have yet to be addressed.

Since taking office, DeSantis has allowed his donors and their corporations to put a stranglehold on Florida's economy. The cost of living has skyrocketed, and sectors like agriculture and construction are suffering from a lack of workers, leading to increased prices for everyday items and a housing crisis. This is largely due to DeSantis's anti-immigration policies, which have driven essential workers out of the state.

Conclusion: Time for a Reevaluation of Leadership



Governor DeSantis's recent executive order raises more questions than it answers. While it may appear to be a noble effort, it diverts resources and attention from pressing local issues that have been neglected. Florida deserves leadership that will prioritize the well-being of its residents over political posturing on the international stage.
