Libertarians [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-14 Three libertarians set up homesteads, each with riverfront property. After six months the furthest downstream homesteader started getting sick. Then he died. When the next homesteader upstream from him also started getting sick, he told his nephew — a student at a local college — what was happening. Curious, the nephew asked him what they were doing with their poop and piss. The uncle replied they were just dumping it in the river. “That’s what’s making you sick,” the nephew said. “You should work together, dig a cesspool away from the river, and put all that stuff in the cesspool to keep it from contaminating the river water.” The uncle thought this was a good idea and he decided to suggest it to the other remaining homesteader, the one upstream, who continued to be healthy. He did and the response was, “You dig a cesspool. I’m a LIBERTARIAN! I do what I want!” The uncle’s health continued to deteriorate, even though he dug the cesspool and used it to keep all his crap out of the river, but to no avail. He thought, “I’m getting worse. I better do something.” Then he remembered that he, too, was a LIBERTARIAN, so he went to his cabin, got his gun, went to the upstream homesteader and said to him, “I’m getting sicker and sicker! You’re not cooperating! You’re not helping!” And he got the same response, in ALL CAPS! this time. “I’m a LIBERTARIAN. I do what I want!” Then the uncle shouted, in anger, “I’m a LIBERTARIAN too, and I do what I want!” Then he shot him in the head and dumped him in the cesspool. Soon after, he started feeling better.
