Nancy Mace is trying to become the new Boebert: the Scarlet Letter edition [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-14 Showing nudes of President Biden’s son, Hunter, on the congressional floor. Letting it all hang out at a kid-friendly musical performance of Beetlejuice. Bringing a lasso into the halls of Congress before a vote for the new Speaker of the House. Last, but most definitely not least, wearing a Scarlet Letter on your shirt in protest of sexism, while ironically not knowing what the Scarlet Letter stands for. The latter offender is Congresswoman Nancy Mace, who saw all the stunts MTG and Boebert were pulling and said, “Hold my beer and my vape pen, please!” Watch this video below, where she obliviously states she is wearing the Scarlet Letter to protest the protests against her vote to oust Speaker McCarthy. To say it didn’t go well is putting it lightly. Some gems from X, formerly known as Twitter: Pro tip: Read the book you're referencing before you reference it — Thor Benson@thor_benson Local moron labels herself an adulterer to protest people being mean to her. — The Hoarse Whisperer@TheRealHoarse Chaos in Ukraine and Israel. Policy needs in healthcare, agriculture, banking etc. Serious issues in the country — and no Speaker. But let’s have neuron-challenged performance artists wear a “scarlet” A on a shirt and parade around as a faux victim for some made-up bullshit. That “A” stands for Asshat. Jesus Christ can we get adults back in Congress? I mean, who does this? —Denver Riggleman @RepRiggleman Show me you haven't read Scarlett Letter without telling me—Wajahat Ali @WajahatAli And my personal fave, which I saw but could not find again, “The A is for attention.” Also, check out this video—the guy in the white shirt needs to do a 23andMe to see if he is a descendant of Buddy Holly. Seriously. A commenter mentioned their resemblance, and I cracked up. My daughter asked me why. Being a teen and not knowing who he was, we looked up his picture on Google. As soon as she saw the image, she started rolling. I mean, we were crying! Now, I am unsure if his expressiveness is a matter of personal behavior, nervousness, or incredulous “WTF?“ but if it is the latter, then America is with you, Buddy! What are they teaching in mainstream Republican Woman School? It has to be said—the boys on the Right side of the aisle are bad. Bad to the bone bad. But the ladies on the Republican side of the aisle are a spectacular side order of cray. This appears to be not a bug but a feature. Republicans, who lack respect for women to begin with, appear to choose ladies whose primary skill is looking cute and being obedient. They want obedience from their men too, do not get me wrong, but many conservative ladies are taught from the cradle their own autonomy and goals do not matter; the long cons of Republican men alone are paramount, and all else is secondary. These orchestrated stunts are undoubtedly decided behind closed doors with male leadership at the helm. The smoke and mirror performative BS of “look over here while we destroy democracy” is by design, and shamefully, women are gleefully becoming a part of this crime against decency and humanity. They have become newly invigorated masters of “owning dah libs.” The beauty weapon As I have pointed out, the left has pretty women in its ranks, and while I do not think they should be ashamed or shy away from this aspect for fear of how others might react to it (asking them to do so is just as oppressive and sexist), Democrats value their fortitude, intelligence, acumen, bravery, strength, and integrity first and foremost. In other words, attractive Democratic Representatives are valued for who they are, and if they also happen to adhere to social standards of beauty, this is a noted aside with a low-end value. On the flip side, Republicans put feminine beauty before anything else when seeking female leadership—if you also happen to be a lockstep lass who sees men as the head of all power, even better (cough, cough daddy issues cough, cough). In the GOP’s mind, a woman has value as long as she is willing to carry water for the cause and look hawt whilst doing it. Female conservative Reps can also have a seat at the table and even be able to share a tiny bit of power so long as she is willing to debase herself for the title she holds. Republicans cynically believe that Lady Rs will likely get away with more than men by batting their eyelashes and acting vacuous ( which may be true to some extent), and to that end it she becomes nothing but a lovely mouthpiece to prop up awful ideas. I am fairly sure some women on the right are aware of this but are willing to bargain off the strength of their womanhood for some sweet, sweet moolah. Think of it. Just when their approval ratings start to hit a snag, people like Majorie Taylor Green and Lauren Boebert pull out nudes during a hearing or play victim after engaging in public indecency to get their coffers filled. Nancy Mace doesn’t know what she is doing on this front, however—I sincerely believe she only managed to confuse people on both the right and the left, neither of whom know what to do with her publicity stunt. Should we pity her? Educate her? Ignore her? In any case, I doubt Mace is fundraising off of this, but maybe she is signaling to the moneymen in the GOP that she is willing to sell her dignity for the chance to do their bidding. And she might as well—she has already sold her soul.
