Photo Diary: Oxley Nature Center, Tulsa OK [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-14 This is a very nice nature park in Tulsa’s Mohawk Park, not far from the Zoo. There are several miles of hiking and bike trails. Some photos from a day at the park. For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. Visitors Center Honeybee hive, kept at the nature center Wetland habitat Prairie habitat Forest habitat Cicada. It was barely alive. End of summer = end of life. Hawk. I don’t know what kind. Cooper’s? Sharp-Shinned? I can’t tell them apart. (Someone here has ID’d it as a Broad-Winged Hawk.) Green-Winged Teals. They took off upon sighting me and flew all the way to the other end of the pond. Caterpillar. Looked like a splop of bird poop—but it had legs. Hackberry Emperor Butterfly. Now you see it ... Now you don’t. Grey Treefrog. A youngster who hasn’t learned yet to keep hidden during the day. Water Snake. Water Snakes are notoriously hard to ID, but it’s likely some subspecies of Northern Water Snake.
