A jujitsu trick to get Hakeem Jeffries elected [1]

(My first post here, so apologies if I get the procedure wrong.)

I don’t know the details of how House members submit names for the vote, but assuming that anyone can nominate anyone else, here’s a strategy to use the GOP’s egos against themselves, and possibly trip them up to get Jeffries elected.

1) The first Democrat to nominate someone chooses Hakeem Jeffries (as had been done in January).

2) Every remaining Democrat then nominates one current GOP house member.

3) Continue with a different GOP name until all of the Democrats have used up their nomination quota. Now there should be 200+ different GOP house members up for a vote

4) All Democrats still vote in unison for Jeffries, as planned. However, the nominated GOP members, especially those on the fence or with weak self-restraint, will have a strong temptation to vote for themselves, thus potentially knocking down the vote count for Jordan (or whoever). Their egos will push them to not have a 0 (zero) vote count next to their names. Some might take the bait.

5) The ensuing chaos could potentially thwart any GOP victory indefinitely, yet the only tally that matters will be the votes (not the nominations) when anyone wants to cite the record. It will show that the Dems voted unanimously, while the Rep votes scattered all over the map. This will also open up an opportunity for ‘moderate’ Republicans to give up and vote for Jeffries in exasperation, seeing as their own party will never come together to end this.
