New Day Cafe: Sunday Somethings [1]

Good morning, Newdists!

Grab a cup of something nice and maybe a tasty thing, and join us for a bit.

On Sunday, I usually include music of some sort, but this week, I found something….peculiar!

The things I learn about my own hometown! I moved away when I was only eighteen but had the good sense to move back a few years later. Then, when the DH and I got married, the AF told us where to go.

Baltimore is famous for so many things, but this one got by me.

Remember the Milli Vanilli scandal? They had two big hits, but it turned out they lip synced both.

Lost in the scandal is the fact that their first song, Girl You know It’s True , was written in Baltimore!

Did you ever wonder why the Michelin Man is white? I sure have! Got this from a piece on Face Book:

The Michelin Man is white because rubber tires are naturally white. It was not until 1912, that carbon chemicals were mixed into the white tires, which turned them black. The change was structural, not aesthetic. By adding carbon, tires became more durable.⁣

Michelin also began reviewing restaurants so that more people would travel further distances in their cars to eat at these restaurants. This in turn would wear down their tires faster, and force them to buy more.⁣

Just remember parents, there is still time to come up with a Halloween costume that will scar your kids for life! Remember to take LOTS of pics! (I have a soft spot for this one, and think it is entirely too adorable!!)

Not only do I remember these, I remember the Battles Royal over who got which box!! You do NOT want to be the one stuck with Raisin Bran.
