In the Guatemala Mayan highlands hunger is prevalent. Lack of rainfall causing the inability to grow food.

At a nutrition clinic in San Cristobal, Alta Verapaz, officials deal with severe cases daily. The region has the country's highest morbidity and mortality. from acute malnutrition.

At least 127 deaths among young children were suspected to be linked to hunger in the first nine months of the year, up from 96 in the same period last year, Guatemalan government data shows. According to good readable Reuters article today. Link below next paragraph.

Many people are preparing or trying to prepare no migrate north. The refugee migrations are on the rise, and we need to prepare to deal with these people when they arrive, not turn them away.
