Don't tell Donald. Jim Jordan is a Loser! Loses Speaker Vote. [1]

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) lost the first round of Tuesday’s speaker election after 20 Republicans voted for other candidates, marking only the second time in 100 years the House has failed to elect a speaker in the first round of voting. www.forbes.com/… Prior to Jordan’s defeat, the only person to lose a speaker vote was none other than Kevin McCarthy.

Prior to the vote, Jordan had signaled confidence after a weekend pressure campaign had flipped several lawmakers in his favor: Rep. Ann Wagner, R-Mo.; Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Fla.; Rep. Ken Calvert, R-Calif.; and House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Ala. www.salon.com/… However, Jordan fell short with twenty Republicans voting against him.

As reported by CNN, “The 20 Republicans who voted against Jordan included House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger of Texas, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida, Rep. The twenty votes against Jordan are one more than the 19 votes against Kevin McCarthy in the first round of voting on January 19. Making it worse for Jordan, it is rumored that some of the establishment Republicans that Jordan strong-armed into “yes” votes over the weekend made only one round commitments. Thus, it is conceivable that Jordan may lose some of those votes in subsequent rounds of voting.

Donald Trump should be taking note of Jordan’s loss. Afterall, Trump HATES LOSERS and, being that this is only the second time in 100 years the House has failed to elect a speaker in the first round of voting, Jordan is a yuge loser. However, unlike Steve Scalise, Jordan is not conceding. After all, conceding a loss is the MAGA way of coping. As a result, look for more dysfunctional GOP drama in the House to come. As of now, a second round of voting has not been scheduled.
