Israel, Occupied Territories, Civilians & Scriptures [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-17 I don't condone the violence against peaceful civilians by Hamas. Unless civilians are trying to use violence against you, you should not use violence against them. In addition to that, it is bad publicity and poor use of resources if you have a justified cause. Therefore, it is understandable that Amnesty International condemns those acts as well as wrongdoings by Israel. It's worth noting there is one odd thing about such sharp criticism of violence against civilians by Zionists and Israel. Zionists chose the land the Jewish scriptures tell of Moses leading Jews from Egypt. Israel is (more or less) on that land and strongly wishes to have that land. For seven days every year, Israelis celebrate Passover about leaving Egypt. Wikipedia's Passover page tells us, "According to the Book of Exodus, God (Yahweh) commanded Moses to tell the Israelites to mark a lamb's blood above their doors in order that the Angel of Death would pass over them (i.e., that they would not be touched by the tenth plague, death of the firstborn)." Wikipedia then clarifies what the death of the (non-Jewish) firstborn means by providing a scripture quote: "This is what the LORD says: 'About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn of the slave girl, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. There will be loud wailing throughout Egypt – worse than there has ever been or ever will be again.'" — Exodus 11:4–6 In other words, Passover is the celebration of a massive killing of civilians. Not just civilians who have a say in society, but even slaves. Zionists should think about this when they shout so loudly against those who cross the line into inhumane acts in order to obtain freedom. Zionists might also consider this: The scriptures say that God told Moses' people that there were certain lands they could have, but they were forbidden to conquer Moab and Edom because he had promised those to others. Yet, later scriptures say the Israelites did attempt to take those lands. If ancient Israel could violate God's specific command, it may be worth asking if modern Israel is attempting to hold onto land it should not. (This is not an attack against Jews. These Moses scriptures are a part of the Christian Old Testament. In the New Testament, Jesus' Last Supper was a Passover seder. Christians fought over that land in the Crusades… And not all Jews support Israeli policies towards Palestinians.)
