[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-20 Cross-posted on my Substack, The Janovsky Report Are you as sick as I am of being called a “condescending elitist” — not just by the right, but by the corporate media and our so-called “allies” because we, e.g., don’t sufficiently appreciate the gritty working-class appeal of Rich Men North of Richmond? Yes, we elitists who want health care for all, support unions, a living wage and taxing the very wealthy. Of course Republicans are the actual elitists, voting down the line for the oligarchy and against things like the child tax credit. They’re political masked singers, wearing a elaborate populist drag ((hide he kids!) to obscure their votes on policies that screw the working classes. Well, sometimes the right’s mask slips off, especially when they are in the process of being hoist on their own petards as Republicans in Districts Biden won in 2020. Take Marc Molinaro, NY-19, who won by 2.2% in 2022 in a district Biden won by 4.6 in 2020. Marc is sticking with subject of prospective George Clooney abuse documentary, Jim Jordan. He thinks it won’t hurt him politically to support the shirt-sleeved menace because: “Most of people I represent wouldn’t know the speaker of the House if they backed over them with a pickup truck,” How the G.O.P. Speaker Mess Has Divided N.Y. House Republicans I assume Josh Riley, Molinario’s likely opponent, is nailing together the yard signs saying “This is what Marc Molinaro thinks of you” as I write. These NY downstate Republicans are flailing during vote after ludicrous Speaker vote in the House, beset by cross-currents including their narrow 2022 margins, their down the line R votes on most issues, their voters’ likely hatred of Jim Jordan, and pressure from their party, including at times, the go-to Republican death threat strategy. Some, like Mike Lawler — winner by .6% in a Biden +10.1% District — are all over TV, wailing about the unfairness of it all and how it’s really the Democrats’ fault. Lawler’s position has been blowin’ in the wind, depending on the day. Last weekend, he told a constituent he’d “’probably just vote’” for Mr. Jordan if he had unified the conference behind him.” But then on Wednesday, said “he could not get behind Mr. Jordan’s brand of politics.” C’mon Mike. Let it all hang out like NY colleague, Elise Stefanik, who nominated Jim, embracing his creepy predator-abetting: “Whether on the wrestling mat or in the committee room, Jim Jordan is strategic, scrappy, tough and principled.” Yes. She actually said that. The good news is because of legislation passed just one month ago, The road to taking back the House goes through New York; and it just got a lot easier. New York has made voting easier — by early voting, required high school student voter registration and other measures. In the meantime. Just a few weeks to turn Virginia Blue, so follow Simon Rosenberg’s link to help. A VA win this year will be a big step to wins in NY and all over in 2024. And in NY, go to The People’s House to help defeat elitist Jordan guy Marc Molinaro and others.
