Offering Side Job for Word Press expert [1]

I’m a writer, not a coder. I’ve been going at it since being a teenager in the ‘60’s, and after my Highest Honors in History from a branch of Univ. of CA in 74, I actually made a living as a hot-shot researcher-ghostwriter in the library and typewriter era for ten years. My history studies did culminate in an original Philosophy of History, the first version of which I self-published in the 80’s --- and did shoe leather to make sales and get my investment back -- and kept working on it thru the nineties towards a more polished version. All the while I was sending radical book and article proposals to publishers, with never a response, although I was having some success placing op-ds with some regional newspapers.

So in 2010 I gathered up my Philosophy into a 20-page article and gathered up a bunch of other material I had, and established a website. We had a family friend in the IT coder ranks who got me set up at a family rate, I considered her my “webmaster” because I simply do not know the IT vocabulary to discuss all these things. Through the first few years there were issues that came up every six months or less, and I would email her and get her help and always ask her ho w much I owed her and paid it.

But the issues were fewer and fewer, I was righteously disregarding SEO rules and posting new stuff all by myself on Word Press, every few months not everyday, and building up a nice global traffic, in the 18 months from Jan ’16 until June ’17 (when Google changed the algorithm to push down total independents like me), I was up to 2 million hits. Since then it’s been slower but steady, 200 or so visitors a day making 3 to 10 hits each, and 40 to 60% coming back hour after hour, day after day, and week after week. I have never tried to monetize the site, I allow Google Ad Sense to have two little ad slots that Google claims haven’t earned $100 in 13 years – I swear they showed me in the $80’s 2 years ago, a few weeks ago they showed $59 on that.

So my old webmaster hasn’t performed any services for me since ’17 or ’18,. when something came up in ’22 I emailed her about it. She responded that the issue could be fixed but that it would be “difficult;” she didn’t offer to get on it and I didn’t push. I brought it up again early this year, didn’t even get a response, and finally asked if she was too busy with other more lucrative work than to be able to help me, and yes, she was.

So I’m finally into spending chunks of my retirement fund to fix various home and family business issues, and I’d like to find someone who would be interested in taking on this job. Of course I’ll have details for those who express interest, posting this message smart folks can easily find the website and check it out. The issue is within the Word Press software, I have never found Word Press that easy to make it work like they say it should, so I am strongly preferring someone with lots of experience with the Word Press system.
