Trump can stay out of prison by reaching deals to plead guilty! [1]

Both Chesebro and Powell have pled guilty and agreed to testify against Trump. However, their plea deals are only valid in Georgia, and do not apply to any criminal liability they may face in the Federal criminal trial pending against Trump in D.C. were both are presumed to be unnamed co-conspirators in Jack Smith’s indictment of Trump. Thus, if they want to protect themselves, they will have to reach a similar plea deal with Jack Smith. With both of them testifying against Trump in DC and Atlanta, the chances of him being found guilty, absent a MAGA holdout juror, are good.

Trump will have to decide if it is worth gambling, or is it in his interest to reach a plea deal, and eliminate the possibility of being convicted and going to jail.

What would the prosecution and the American people gain by letting Trump plead guilty and avoid prison?

First, they should insist that he concede the 2020 election was not stolen, and that Biden is the duly elected President.

Second, that he drops out of the race as the Republican nominee for President in 2024, and admits that he supported and encouraged the events leading up to the failed insurrection of January 6, 2021, and concede that he is prohibited from seeking or holding any public office in the future, in accordance with Article 14, Sec 3, of the Constitution.

The Prosecutors will have succeeded in avoiding a long and difficult criminal trial, and getting a criminal conviction of the former President. Alvin Bragg, in NY, could demand a misdemeanor plea, promising no jail time.

We, the American People, will have gotten rid of a dangerous threat to our Democracy, and can get on with the business of re-electing Joe Biden President, holding onto the Senate, and getting control of the House, in 2024,

Eventually, with Trump off the political stage, his ramblings on Truth Social or other social media sites will no longer be newsworthy, and the media can and should ignore him. Hopefully, Trump’s fanatical MAGA followers will eventually fade away, and the country can return to normal.
