Sunday Morning Open Thread: Music by Linda Ronstadt [1]

Good morning, Folks. This morning’s diary has a sampling of music by Linda Ronstadt. But first,

Morning Open Thread is a daily, copyrighted post from a host of editors and guest writers. We support our community, invite and share ideas, and encourage thoughtful, respectful dialogue in an open forum. Join us, please.

Ronstadt got her start with the band the Stone Poneys.

Later she broke off to start her solo career. At first no one was sure what to do with her—she didn’t fit neatly into any genre.

At one point in her career Ronstadt veered into Mexican folk music as a homage to her predominately Latina roots.

We haven’t heard anything new from Ronstadt for some years now. She retired in 2011 when she came down with a Parkinsons-like disease called progressive supranuclear palsy. It left her “unable to hold a note.” Yet she gifted us with quite a library of music. Thank you, Linda.
