My 1st choice for Speaker is Hakeem Jeffries, but what about Tom Emmer and Austin Scott? [1]

If Jeffries wanted, he can convince 5 Republicans to vote for him he will be Speaker. All Democrats would vote for him.

If Emmer or Scott, the only 2 Repubs who did not object to the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election, convince about 200 Democrats to therefore vote for them, either one could be Speaker.

Then again, a miracle may happen tonight and the GOP will have a new candidate that enough Democrats approve of.

Curious about the opinions of fellow Kossacks, smart and knowledgeable pro-democracy people.

We are in increasingly dangerous uncharted waters. We need a functional cockpit and a capable pilot in Congress to survive.

And, just saying, Matt Gaetz resonates with this cockpit incident that happened yesterday;

Off-duty pilot charged with 83 counts of attempted murder for allegedly trying to shut off engines on Alaska Airlines flight
