Sierra Skypark. America’s first: A photo salon (diary) [1]

As a way to recognize Sierra Skypark itself as well as to showcase its many interesting features, I present to you today’s photo-diary thread, dedicated exclusively to the community that is Sierra Skypark!



Established in 1946, Sierra Skypark was created with one purpose in mind: To build a housing community around which aviation is the centerpiece.



Pilots (and their passengers) in their smaller airplanes were afforded take-off and set-down (landing) provisions like would be provided at any airport. The difference here, housing for those who like or need to take to the skies and the roads also can own housing, which removed the need to have to drive one’s own automobile or secure some type of taxi service needed to get to that other kind of, you know, your general public airport. At Sierra Skypark, as a pilot and/or airplane owner and user, you can actually live on site. Or, if inclined enough and you didn’t satisfy either of those qualifications, and are just a lover of planes, for example, you could also reside in a home built on the premises. It is a unique community indeed!
