[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-23 It is very likely that the site of the explosion and fire at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City has been deliberately altered. One of the photographs of the damage also looks to have been deliberately altered. This diary tries to show that there are two different craters at two different times, and a picture used by a major media outlet has a section pasted in. The sources are given in the text because there are too few for a separate section at the end. THE CRATERS There is a night vision picture of the hospital courtyard taken by the IDF shown below. www.theguardian.com/… In the picture, there is a small, round, black dot that Bellingcat thinks may be a crater. www.theguardian.com/… Night Vision Photograph of Damage at Alhi Hospital 2 hours after the explosion and fire. The red arrow points to where the round crater likely is located. There is a daytime picture of a small, round crater that is in the same position as the black dot in the IDF picture. This picture is shown below. Photograph of the Round Crater the Day After the Explosion and Fire. The red arrow points to a roll of red cloth or clothing. The red rectangle is the location of the square crater shown below. (The red rectangle doesn’t exactly follow the square crater due to the author’s computer drawing skills.) There is also another small crater in a different picture, but this crater is square in shape. This picture is shown below. This location looks to be where a manhole used to be in a photo in the Bellingcat article, but there is no sign of a manhole cover in the picture of the round crater. The next section on pictures may explain this anomaly. (The author has not yet investigated the Bellingcat photo.) Photograph of the Square Crater the Day After the Explosion and Fire. The red arrow points to the roll of red cloth or clothing that has been moved from the location in the picture of the round crater. One can locate the position of the square crater by counting paving stones (which are in a square grid) using the black opening in the curb (to the left of the roll of red cloth in the photo above) as the reference point. Then, this position can be superimposed on the picture of the round crater. When this is done, one finds that there is no square crater in the picture of the round crater, as shown above. There is also a roll of red cloth or clothing by the curb. It appears that it is being used to mark the position of the crater. It is near the the round crater, and then near the square crater. The red cloth is marked by red arrows in the pictures above. What this means is that the site has been altered, both in a major and minor way. The square crater was dug out by someone after the explosion and fire, which is a major, major alteration. The movement of the roll of red cloth is a minor alteration. THE PICTURE There is a picture of the hospital courtyard from the Guardian, and likely others, that shows an overall view of the damage to many of the cars, with the buildings and two plazas in the background. People are milling around the road that enters the parking area. This picture is shown below, both in full size and enlarged to show the square crater. The reason the round crater is not seen is because there are people standing over the location of the round crater. These people appear to have been carefully pasted into the larger picture by someone. That is, the picture was likely altered to cover up the small crater. Or, both the small crater was filled in and the picture was altered. Overall Picture of the Damage Scene at the Al Ahli Hospital the Day After the Explosion and Fire. (CNN should also be in the attribution) Enlarged View of the Picture Above. The red arrow points to the small crater. The yellow arrow points to where the round crater should be. The green and yellow arrows point to the corner of what looks like a pasted in picture, which is described in more detail below. (CNN should also be in the attribution) When the picture is blown up further, as shown below, some of the edges of what looks like a pasted-in picture can be seen. At the bottom left there are clear lines at the bottom and left. At the top, the edge is more subtle. On the left, the trunk of the palm tree is cut off, with the same white of the building on either side. On the top and right, there are two places where the shade changes along a line, but these lines are very subtle. Enlarged Picture Showing Left Corner of What Appears to Be a Picture Pasted Into the Larger Scene and Covering Up the Area of the Round Crater. Detail of the Overall Picture Above Showing Edges of What Looks to Be a Pasted-In Picture. There are green arrows showing the edges — on on the left by the palm tree, one in the tree at the top, and one by the pillar on the right. The top and right edges are very subtle. WHY Why is all this detail and this article so important ? Why would anyone go to the trouble of making a second square crater ? Why would anyone go to all the trouble of carefully pasting in a picture to cover up the location of the round crater ? The importance is simple. Both Israel and Palestinian terror groups (Islamic Jihad and Hamas) have been accused of starting this explosion and fire. The consequences of knowing who is responsible this for act are very significant for both parties. It is obvious to this author that someone doesn’t want us to see the round crater. Why this is the case isn’t known for certain. Most likely, someone felt that the small crater would be incriminating. It would show who started the explosion and fire and how. And, that someone doesn’t want us to know that they did this and how. Most of us want to know what happened. WHAT THESE FINDINGS MEAN In the author’s opinion, these findings mean a number of things. The first, and most obvious meaning of these findings is that both the site and picture of the explosion and fire have been deliberately altered. These alterations mean that every Palestinian picture and video coming from the site has to be taken with more than a few grains of salt. They need to be carefully examined for any alterations, and their source needs to be identified. Second, the alteration of the site means that Hamas – the governing body of Gaza – cannot be trusted. As long as Hamas is in charge of Gaza, an independent investigation of the site is likely impossible. And, even if such an on-site investigation of the site is performed, the alteration of the site will always leave a question mark about the findings. Third, it means that Hamas is trying to cover something up. Exactly what it is, isn’t known now.
