Idea: Democratic Televised Appeal for Power Sharing Deal in Congress [1]

Are Democrats going to wait until the last day before a government shutdown before they make a direct nationally televised appeal to the American people to contact their elected representative and demand a unity government between Republicans and Democrats.

The time is right for Democrats to take the initiative, seize the moment of Republican chaos, and go for the gold. Every honest Democrat knows that a potion of the Republican has declared war on the Democratic party, and their will never be any compromise to make the country work. This is opportunity to outflank them politically, and go directly to moderate Republicans and independents to pressure their Republican congressmen to work with the Democratic party on a power sharing agreement to insure the work of the Government gets done.

“My fellow Americans. The Democratic party is hereby extending its hand as partners with the Republican party in the governing of this great nation. We know that many Republicans do not agree with us, and we don’t agree with many Republican proposals, however, certainly we can work together to reach a compromise. The united states is like a big family. And every family has to set priorities, will junior get to play little baseball this season, can our daughter go to the college of her choice or can we only afford to send her to a less expensive school. Families often have to make very difficult decision, and compromise often has to happen since with most families everyone can’t have everything they want all the time. As Democratic and Republican legislators, we have been sent here by the American public to figure out to get the things done that this great American family needs to have done. We will not agree on most things, but surely we can work together to reach an agreement that has benefits for everyone. We as Democrats firmly believe that the legislative process is not a zero sum game with a winner and loser on every bill. We believe that we can work to gether to find solutions to problems to benefit everyone concerned. If you agree, we request you call your congressional representative, and say “I would like you to work with your Democratic colleagues to solve our nations problems”
