[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-25 MSNBC likes to have Brendan Buck to get the Republican view on things, especially on what House Republicans are up to. Buck was on All In With Chris Hayes Show tonight, and I was a bit surprised and pleased about what Buck had to say about Speaker Mike Johnson. First, Buck predicts that Speaker Johnson is so screwed when it comes to his new gig. The reason: NO LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE WHATSOVER. Next, if — big IF — Johnson actually tries to govern, Gaetz and the rest of the MAGA maniacs are going to be throwing knives at Johnson. It’s only a matter of time for MAGA House members to be calling Speaker Johnson a member of the “swamp.” NOTE: Buck is still a believer in Ryanism and thinks somehow the Republican Party can be saved. It’s why I take everything he pushes on MSNBC with a Mt. Everest amount of salt. Anyway, I will expand on what Buck was telling Hayes. And to be honest, I could not fault his predictions on Speaker Johnson’s political fate. As mentioned in the intro, Buck points out that being Speaker of the House takes some EXPERIENCE! Buck has seen this up close and personal because he worked for both Speaker Boehner and Speaker Ryan. And I bet that former Speaker Pelosi would agree with Buck’s assessment. Johnson does not have anything like leadership experience. Next, Buck brings up the dysfunctional power dynamic among the House GOP. Gaetz and his ilk think that they can force the Democratic Senate and President Biden to bend to their demands. Basically, the MAGA maniacs want their pony, and divided government be damned! Speaker Johnson is now one of their own faithful thrust into the role to make all their dream come true. And Buck states the obvious that virtually none of what Gaetz and company wants will become law. Finally, if Speaker Johnson wants to keep the government running, he is going to have to make a deal with Senate Democrats and President Biden. Once Johnson does this, there will be howls of betrayal from the MAGA crowd. Once again, a Republican Speaker will have sold out their members, or so the MAGA maniacs will scream. Buck says he saw this happen to both Boehner and Ryan. Buck predicted that this will probably happen within the next three months to Speaker Johnson. Probably the catalyst will be that Johnson cannot produce the deep budget cuts that he and the rest of the Republicans want. The media may buy the Republican bullshit that everything will be good from now on, but the dysfunction is still present. It’s not going to go away. The only question is how long will it take for it to present itself again.
