Progressive Running in Rural PA - Update [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-25 Hi all: For those who have read my stuff, I’m running against an entrenched GOP incumbent who has been in office for 24 years. The Recorder of Deeds office has some interesting caveats, notably collecting fees to support affordable housing initiatives. Due to Centre County (Pennsylvania) having some of the highest costs for affordable housing, I began hammering at this issue, which people of all demographics agree is a problem in our county. I made note that we need to create housing initiatives to support our veterans. The fact that politicians say they support veterans, yet do nothing to actually follow up with it annoys me and I felt that calling out the local GOP on this was the right thing to do. And it has really triggered some stuff. I call into a local talk radio show to discuss the ideas and the incumbent called immediately after and… well he made me look pretty good to the conservative audience. Veterans have been calling in to express their support of my ideas and they are curious to see where it goes. Furthermore, the texting we’ve been doing as a campaign and the door knocking has been going a long way. This is where I decided to create a video and make a quick ad for social media and streaming services. I never do scripts and frankly I feel its more genuine this way. If you want to check out the video, hopefully you can view it here: Zeigler Campaign Ad and I want you to know this was done in less than 30 minutes to record it and the turnaround time to get it out online was less than a day. It’s local, straightforward, and short. At any rate, by being direct and open about my “progressive” ideas and hitting all types of media with a focus on a specific demographic that all folks seem to be in agreement to help, it’s really gotten the attention of conservatives and instead of dismissing progressive ideas, they are actually trying to understand them. I am being cautiously optimistic here about my chances of flipping this seat and being able to help address affordable housing here in the county. It seems the public, overall, is on my side. For those of you in Centre County, please share my social media posts (@ZeiglerForPA for FB, IG, Threads, Twitter) and please share my video. If anyone is interested in knocking doors or phone banking, go to www.zeiglerforpa.com and fill out the volunteer form or contact me on that page (or on here). And if you want to chip in financially to help pay for the expansion of my ad audience, texting, and so on, you can do so here. Honestly, addressing affordable housing would be a huge win here and I think we can make it happen. And it took just being direct and informing people of all demographics to make some progress… we’ve got to engage folks! At any rate, thank you for reading!
