Over the summer I had the pleasure of dealing with my Citi credit card fraud department. I was on vacation when they alerted me to potential fraud charges. Being a responsible adult I called immediately and reported that I had not authorized these charges totaling $361.00. I get back from vacation and they send a letter saying that I had authorized them and was responsible for paying them. My only recourse was to contact the merchant and deal with them.

I then called them again to say that I had received no goods or services for these charges. How is that not fraud?

Again they said they would look into it. And call me about any additional info they might need. Instead weeks went by and I called again. They again said they would look into my case.

I then waited a month and called again. They said I was responsible for the charges and resolving the issue.

At this point I am utterly frustrated and almost ready to give up.

But then I googled what I could do. And someone on Reddit said they filed a report with the Consumer Financial Protection bureau and got results.

It took me a while to fill out the report online including showing when/where I thought my info got hacked. Also scanning stuff.

But apparently government can work and after about a month since filing my report Citi credited my account for the full amount.

Thank you Democratic Party for looking out for us.
