Judge Chutkan Reinstates Her Gag Order. Less Than An Hour Later, Trump Violates It [1]

At 7:44 PM Eastern Time Sunday, The Messenger reported that Judge Chutkan has reinstated her gag order on Trump:

A federal judge on Sunday reinstated the gag order in Donald Trump's election interference case, agreeing with Special Counsel Jack Smith that the former president should remain muzzled when talking about certain people involved in his upcoming criminal trial even as he tries to appeal the speech restrictions. Full details still remain unclear beyond a one-sentence alert of new docket text from U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan. It said she was denying Trump's motion to stay the original gag order and that she was lifting the temporarily stay she'd agreed to in order for both sides to make their arguments on paper.

Here is the essence of the order:

Accordingly, and pursuant to Local Criminal Rule 57.7(c), it is hereby ORDERED that: All interested parties in this matter, including the parties and their counsel, are prohibited from making any public statements, or directing others to make any public statements, that target (1) the Special Counsel prosecuting this case or his staff; (2) defense counsel or their staff; (3) any of this court’s staff or other supporting personnel; or (4) any reasonably foreseeable witness or the substance of their testimony. [emphasis added]

At 8:21 PM, Trump posted this on Truth Social:

I called Bill Barr Dumb, Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy, a RINO WHO COULDN’T DO THE JOB. He just didn’t want to be Impeached, which the Radical Left Lunatics were preparing to do. I was tough on him in the White House, for good reason, so now this Moron says about me, to get even, “his verbal skills are limited.” Well, that’s one I haven’t heard before. Tell that to the biggest political crowds in the history of politics, by far. Bill Barr is a LOSER!

And of course, Barr is a witness in the federal case against Trump.
