Joe Biden Is President: October 30, 2023 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-30 IMHO, too many in the MSM — and even those here — spend their time covering the crazies in the GOP and the previous guy. It’s tempting, because they are performance artists, so they generate clickbait. I agree, we need to be aware and we need to fight. But must we obsess? I hate the previous guy. Giving them so much attention gives them power. Then, the MSM complains that no one knows about President Biden’s accomplishments, which are huge. The answer is simple: it’s because the MSM doesn’t talk about them! Talking about President Biden’s accomplishments is a way to fight, because when voters learn what he is doing, his approval ratings go up. So, in an attempt to change the direction of the MSM, here are some things President Biden and his team did during the last few days. (I will post these during the week when I can.) White House Briefing Room Justice Department (it’s not all about Jan 6 and the previous guy’s crimes): Man convicted of defrauding government (55 million) A federal jury in the Northern District of Texas convicted a medical marketer today for his role in a $55 million fraud conspiracy involving TRICARE, a federal program that provides health insurance benefits to active duty and retired service members and their families, and several other federal health care programs. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, Quintan Cockerell, 42, of Palos Verdes Estates, California, worked with others to create and market expensive compounded medications, which are medications intended to be custom-tailored to individual patient needs. However, instead of custom-tailoring these medications, a local pharmacy designed formulations to maximize TRICARE and other federal health care program reimbursements regardless of patient need or medical efficacy. Pharmacy owners and others paid illegal kickbacks to individuals like Cockerell, who recruited area doctors to write prescriptions for these expensive compounded medications, including by creating so-called investment opportunities so that doctors who wrote prescriptions to the pharmacy could profit from the pharmacy operations. Cockerell then spent the proceeds of the scheme on expensive vacations, trips on private jets, and a yacht charter. The jury convicted Cockerell of one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, one count of receiving unlawful kickbacks, and one count of money laundering. A sentencing date has not yet been set. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for the count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, five years in prison on the kickback count, and 10 years in prison on the money laundering count. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Too Much? Here’s How to Focus An email from Simon Rosenberg (Hopium Chronicles) contained some interesting information: voters approve of Biden much more when they learn of his accomplishm3ents. According to Navigator, the accomplishments that make the most difference are: The most popular accomplishments of the Biden administration are lowering prescription drug costs, investing in infrastructure, and the CHIPS Act, among others . . Americans have heard the most about the Biden administration lowering prescription drug costs, ramping up clean energy, and investing in infrastructure, but even on these accomplishments, fewer than three in five Americans haveheard about each one. Communicating around Biden’s accomplishments improves his net job approval rating by double digits, especially among people unfavorable to both Biden and Trump, younger Americans, and college-educated women. If we focus on just these three things, we should see a blue tsunami next year. 🐦 I do a lot of other writing. There are the Crow Nickels, a trilogy about crows who want to rescue the planet: Hunters of the Feather, Scavengers of Mind and Familiars of the Flock (They’re really good! They’re really cheap! Buy and review or rate positively! And Hunters is also available on Audible!) Other stories, based on Jane Austen novels (such as The Meryton Murders) and others on Greek mythology, can be found here. All titles are available through Kindle Unlimited, but I only get paid if you turn the pages.
