Washington State History Museum: Model railroad (photo diary) [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-10-30 The Washington State History Museum features the largest model railroad on permanent exhibition in the state. The theme is Washington in the 1950s. According to the Museum: “You’ll spot landmarks such as Tacoma’s historic Union Station (the star of the layout), the towering Asarco stack, the tunnel to Stampede Pass, the Almond Roca candy factory, and Puyallup’s Meeker Mansion, to name a few. You’ll see trackage and equipment from the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Union Pacific, and Milwaukee Road railroads.” The layout was built by Puget Sound Model Railroad Engineers, (PSMRE), a non-profit club that operates and maintains this world-class model train exhibit.
