Update: A helper needs our help to be free of pain and stay out of the hospital. [1]

Imagine you have an abscess —

I left work early yesterday because of a toothache. I have a call in to a dentist, hoping I can get in today. Meanwhile, lots of Anbesol. I got mashed potatoes and apple sauce to eat. Trying to not stare at the phone.

...I’m having a root canal on Tuesday, then a temporary crown etc. There’s an infection as well, so antibiotics...I need to eat soft foods because of the pain, so yogurt is on the menu anyway.

The endodontist called yesterday after talking to my insurance company, and the cost to me would be $1600, just for their part. Payable immediately. So I canceled the appointment.

Affording $1,600 up front with another approximately $800 needed for the crown is something she just cannot do. Not without our help.

Our anotherdemocrat was hit with two financial disasters last year that forced her to get a second job and trashed her credit score. Neither of those disasters were of her making.

Now this.

As far too many fellow kossacks can attest, along with miserable pain an untreated abscess can infect your blood stream and land you in the hospital.

It is truly a dangerous place to be.

That is why I’m asking all of you wonderful people to help a fellow kossack who has always, year after year, helped others.

Whether it was raising funds for Dkos’ “Netroots for the Troops,” her years long commitment to the larger Austin, Texas LGBTQ community, support for Democratic candidates, or more recently raising money for those affected by the horrific fire in Maui - anotherdemocrat faithfully shows up.

Over the years she has raised thousands for Hill Country Ride for AIDS.

She is not one to ask for help. Like so many of us, she much prefers to be the one who helps. Quietly. Unassumingly. Gently. That is what she does.

But she can’t do this one. She doesn’t have the resources that will end the pain and risk to her health.

Only we can. That is why I am setting a donation goal of $3000. That will cover all costs for the root canal, crown, and further related expenses. I’d actually like it to be higher than that. $5000 anyone? A problem with her car or something else will only leave a/d trapped and struggling again. Knowing what this amazing miracle making community can do, lets see what happens.
