Ahed Tamini - another icon disappoints but does not surprise. [1]

Prominent Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi was arrested Monday after posting on social media that Palestinians will “slaughter” settlers and “drink your blood.” “Our message to the herds of settlers is that we are waiting for you in all the West Bank cities, from Hebron to Jenin,” Tamimi wrote in a post last week. “We will slaughter you and you will say that what Hitler did to you was a joke, we will drink your blood and eat your skulls. Come on, we’re waiting for you,” she wrote.

I so desperately wanted this little girl to grow up and become the next Nelson Mandela.

One of the tidbits I really loved is how the young Ahed looked forward to her family’s home being demolished by the Israeli occupation because that meant her family would have to move in with her best friend’s family, who lived just 10 steps down the street.



Jewish readers may relate to her memoirs (They call me a lioness, available on Amazon) . It reminded me of Anne Frank’s diary. Except Anne Frank survives and ends up hating the Nazis…. and being consumed by hatred in the process.



That is the sad thing about the Israeli occupation. It takes away the humanity of both the oppressed, and the oppressor. Most people (on both sides of the occupation) have been consumed by hatred.
