It's about Joe Biden's age, it's not about VP Harris. Really. For real. We promise. [1]

I encourage everyone to read Heather Digby Parton’s column on Salon that I referenced. She starts out with this:

“Over the week-end Democrats celebrated their biennial tradition of hand wringing and panic about the election a year hence….”

That gives you an idea of where she’s going here as she breaks down the poll that Dems like David Axelrod and James Carville are agonizing over and even suggesting (Axelrod) that Biden withdraw from his re-election campaign.

Now, Heather didn’t say this because she’s probably way nicer than me. But anyone who has read any of my previous diaries know that I’mma SAY what I’mma say regardless of blowback.

I believe in my heart of heart that all this “concern” about President Biden’s age is just a dog-whistle about our Black, Asian , female Vice-President. (Yes, Biden’s age is an issue. The bigger issue for me is he got shit DONE-that was, is and will continue to be good for the country).

Axelrod and Carville (and others in our party) never wanted Biden to pick Kamala Harris as his VP from the get-go. All the whisper campaigns, the “staffers leaving because she’s a “terrible boss” (for expecting them to do their jobs?)

It occurs to me that if she were not a threat, these whisper campaigns wouldn’t be happening. If she didn’t connect so well with young people and people of color and women (especially Black women), they wouldn’t always be citing their “she’s underwater” polls.

Now, Axelrod, Carville and others know they can’t come out publicly with all this Kamala hate because that would totally alienate the party’s most loyal, solid, and hard-charging constituency. So their concern is about Biden’s age, don’tcha know. And that’s more concernng than drumpf’s multitude of ssues right? (“issues”-way too inadequate a word).

As Heather states at the end of her column:

“Unless the country has completely lost its moorings on a level that can only be explained by LSD in the water supply, the fact that people are saying Donald Trump would be a better president is nothing more than a political primal scream. Yes, Americans are upset about the economy and the world feels unstable but I don't believe that it's so bad that a majority will put an actual criminal, vengeful, would-be dictator back in the White House. Call me an optimist. We can't be that far gone.”

I don’t either, Heather. And I can only add, stop stressing. Start working. Double what you did to get Biden elected in 2020. When we VOTE. WE Win.

And, if, God forbid, something happens to President Biden, we have a very capable Vice-President in Kamala Harris who is ready on day One to take over. (That ain’t what’s bothering y’all, David and James and the rest of y’all “dump Kamala” folk is it?)

Yeah, I said it!
