[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-11-07 For political nerds like us, Election Day is a lot like Christmas. Although, if things don’t go our way, it can be more scary, like Halloween. But ever since the six fascist SCOTUS judges overturned Roe, elections around the country have been very Christmas like. Special Elections just keep on giving to the Dems, and I am here for it. Meanwhile, every race, no matter how small or how big, no matter how blue or red the district, town or state is, the MAGA nazis keep nominating the nuttiest nut jobs they can unearth and keep getting their asses handed to them by the electorate. And they never learn. Because they don’t want to. It’s SO much easier to just scream conspiracy theories on Fox and talk radio, and pretend you won. So where does that leave us today? We have some big races going on around the country. The VA state leg and a PA SC race, for starters. As well as others. Like most elections, I am excited and nervous but optimistic that these trends of voter enthusiasm and turnout will continue to go our way. As of now, there's no reason to believe that today’s elections will be any different than ones from the past few years. And the MSM will be rooting hard for massive wins by Republicans, pushing their typical Dems in Disarray bullshit and the MAGA crowd will be teeing up their new conspiracies, while we will just keep winning. Fingers crossed. And while we wait for the results to come in, please enjoy today’s helping of good news and go Dems! Fresh off congressional Republicans' new job approval rating of 12% comes a poll showing Republican incumbents in battleground districts are in dire shape. Overall, Republicans in Congress now have a net -22 favorability rating among voters in some 60 battleground districts, 10 points worse than their -12 rating in July, according to the new survey from the progressive consortium Navigator Research. Congressional Democrats, by comparison, held steady at a -10 favorability rating in both surveys. We’ll see how things play out today but it appears as though no one is thrilled about the extremist lunatics. Although Ohio leans red, enough folks in the state would love to see Jim Jordon pack up and move back home for good. One of them is Tamie Wilson, a sister who has Jordan's number and is ready to clean his clock—figuratively speaking. Fiery, smart as hell, and determined, Tamie Wilson plans a protest in Washington DC at around five p.m. today to make her opposition to Jim’s power grab known. Anyone who wants to join her or learn more can reach out to her via DM on Twitter at: @TamieUSCongress Bit of an old story back when the House was still courting Jordan but it is important to know he will have a challenger. It is Ohio and it is still a long shot, but we still have to challenge these creeps. News that the Georgia Legislature will have to redraw the state’s congressional district lines was welcomed by many new constituents of controversial Republican U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Residents of southwest Cobb said they were shocked in 2021 to learn the Republican-led General Assembly had drawn them into the 14th Congressional District The Legislature drew the lines of Greene’s district in a way that pulled racially diverse parts of Cobb County that had been part of a majority-Black, Democratic district into her northwest Georgia district About 61,000 Cobb County voters were moved into Greene’s district. “I believe that gerrymandering has got us stuck with somebody who absolutely, in no shape or form, represents who I am, what we think or what we would want,” Douglin said. “Especially with the actions that we have seen her do. I’m totally embarrassed that she is my representative.” Please please please!! In 2023, activists have been eyeing Mississippi's governor’s race as an opportunity to support Black voters. That's because it will be the first gubernatorial election since the overturning of a Jim Crow-era law that used an Electoral College-type system to elect state officials and reduced the power of Black voters. Fucking MS. Still as racist as they’ve always been. Tough state to see any change but at least the good guys are trying. MA United Way donates large sum to migrant families United Way of Massachusetts Bay and The Boston Foundation announced the first of two rapid distributions of $570,000 to 12 community-based organizations from The Massachusetts Migrant Families Relief Fund. The fund was created last month in partnership to address the growing humanitarian crisis faced by migrants seeking asylum in Massachusetts and to support the local, trusted community-based organizations that have deployed an all-hands-on-deck effort to meet the essential needs of new arrivals in our region. The organizations receiving the first round of funding are focused in communities Including Attleboro, Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Marlborough, Medford, Lynn, Lowell, Somerville, Waltham, Quincy, and Worcester, as well as state-wide organizations. Nice to see some real money being put towards this important cause here in my home state. More than 300 acres of Massachusetts land will go into a trust for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, after a First Circuit panel on Tuesday upheld a federal judge's ruling albeit on “somewhat different reasoning.” In the 35-page decision penned by U.S. Circuit Judge Sandra Lynch, a Bill Clinton appointee, the court found that the federal government was entitled to give the land to the tribe under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934. U.S. Circuit Judges Julie Rikelman and Lara Montecalvo, both Joe Biden appointees, joined the opinion. “The Secretary of the Interior may, under the IRA, ‘acquire land and hold it in trust “for the purpose of providing land for Indians,”’” Lynch wrote, citing the 2009 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Carcieri v. Salazar. Another victory in court for our Native American brothers and sisters. He and mom Donna launched a new campaign for people to get their flu shot along with the latest COVID-19 vaccination. Yes, not only is Kelce winning Super Bowl titles with the Kansas City Chiefs − he’s helping people save lives. In a complete surprise to no one, conservatives are freaking the fuck out that this good ‘ole boy- a straight, white, Christian Alpha man, playing and living in a very red state, is not a MAGA loon. Good for him! This organization is pretty amazing. Check out this website and read about the work they’re doing. Truly incredible stuff. Thanks to my wife (Baby Yoda) for finding this and sending it to me. The electric vehicles (EVs) are coming! Much faster than expected. The International Energy Agency (IEA)’s 2023 Global Electric Vehicle Outlook documents a swift uptick in EV sales, which include plug-in hybrids and battery-electric cars: three short years ago, in 2020, only 4 percent of new car sales were EVs. In 2022, 14 percent were. The IEA predicts that in 2023, 18 percent will be, and in 2030, 36 percent. We haven’t gone electric yet but it’s coming for us as well. But we are NOT getting a Tesla! Well, that’s about it for me, folks. If you are in a state that has an election, please go and vote and remind others to do so as well. And then tomorrow we will all either celebrate or assess the damage. Go Team Blue!
