Collective-Selfishness is an Oxymoron [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-11-27 Every four years, the ultra-left loses its collective mind while indulging in its selfishness. I am still raw from 2016 when actor Susan Sarandon made a public appeal for revolution instead of voting for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. “Some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately. If he gets in, then things will really explode. Some people feel that. If you feel it’s pragmatic to shore up the status quo right now, then you’re not in touch with the status quo. The status quo’s not working,” Sarandon told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes . Later, Bill Maher challenged the actor before his recent descent into contrarianism, questioning if that was a good political strategy. Maher agreed with Sarandon’s choice of Senator Bernie Sanders but stated he would vote blue over any Republican, even pointing out her 82 percent rating from the League of Conservation Voters. Sarandon resorted to her liberal selfishness, responding with: “I don’t care [about] the [League of Conservation Voters]. She’s been selling fracking all over Jersey .” To his credit, Bill Maher responded with an answer I have been hearing various iterations of lately: “Yes, she’s not perfect, but perfect is not on the menu!” said Maher. Comic duo ‘Frangela,’ in one of their routines, answers the question of what is on the menu with “Biden.” Commentator Mehdi Hasan warned the Democrats about the anger in the Muslim community over Biden’s handling of the Israeli/Hamas War.” Tweeting or X-ing , Hasan wrote, “I’ve had the same conversations with all my Muslim friends and family members over Thanksgiving. Not a single one says they will vote for Biden again, having voted for him in 2020. Every single one says it’s because of Gaza. Dems need to understand that the anger is very real.” There is little doubt that both Palestinian(s) and Israeli(s) have a basis for their anger, but as in Israel—who voted for a right-wing would-be autocrat for the illusion of safety, Muslims in America are willing to ignore the promises of a party led by Donald Trump to expel all Palestinians from America. In most cases, I find it repugnant to suggest a monolithic approach to voters, but in this instance, the folly of cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face is more than evident. The small margin of defeat suffered by Ms. Clinton in 2016, plunging America into one of the darkest political periods in its history, would be disastrous for the American Muslim community if repeated. Mr. Trump took many bites of the Muslim ban apple in his term in office. Trump and his sycophants promise to load the federal government with followers willing to help him break the Constitution and with that—America—should send a shiver of fascist dictatorship down the spine of freedom. It is beyond belief that America has allowed the open talk of fascism to become a valid political point in an America so proud of the Greatest Generation . Has the Right become so polarized that they welcome anti-Americanism? The underlying element of white supremacy hate coursing through the veins of America is so obvious it is painful. The Obama/ Trump game tells the tale. Had Obama had 91 criminal counts in four jurisdictions and been found liable for rape and fraud, well...?
