Giving Up [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-11-28 I have been posting stories about John and Ghana for about a year now. I thought people would find them interesting. I thought they added something to the site. I thought they fulfilled a purpose in showing how people are struggling and why we Democrats do what we do, putting a face on what we are fighting for. Also, honestly, I thought it showed the absolute evil the capitalistic system that has swallowed the world is and what it does to people. A few times I have asked for help, yes, in extreme emergencies. But I have been scrupulously careful in NOT asking, partly because I find it distasteful and partly because the rules here don’t allow it anyway (a rule I totally agree with, frankly.) When people have offered help I have accepted because I believe it is in an insult to good intentions to stand between someone who needs help and someone who wants to help. But I have never asked outside of those very narrow limits. I have never told one falsehood here, though at times I have had to correct a few things from my own misunderstanding. Everything has been scrupulously documented. In regards to stories about my son, I have never asked for money for him and frankly money is not the issue there anyway. That is a totally different subject. In the last diary about him I was so happy I wanted to celebrate with people who I thought would be happy for me. But I seem to have attracted some people who absolutely do not believe anything I say, even with online news articles proving that John is telling the truth, and now I have been accused of flatly ripping off people here. Frankly the diaries about John are just not that important to me personally. I am glad to hear that someone has been helped but most of the help for the people there has come from my own funds anyway. I am proud of that. If there are going to be conflicts, accusations, and arguments then it is simply not worth it to continue to post here. I’m sorry about that but so it is. It takes a thousand people of good will to build a village. It takes only one person of ill will to burn it down. I will be posting ‘daily diary’ updates at our nonprofit website www.p9foundation.com for those who want to follow what is happening with John and the others but probably not every day.
