Shane MacGowan has passed. Rest in Peace [1]

Just wanted to share the news about Shane MacGowan passing. For many who are too young, Shane was an icon that exemplified the energy and just plain fun of Punk music.

I also wanted to share some of my favorite songs by Shane.

CNN Shane Macgowan dead at 65.

Many people remember his most well known song at Christmas time.

The Fairytale of New York. (using the one with the lyrics)

However, his real fans knew his other great works from traditional Irish music and some truly lovely ballads and fun stuff. As a fallen away Catholic Texas immigrant in Canada, I was exposed to other cultures besides my own TexMex culture of Westside San Antonio. But Shane spoke to me so clearly.

so rather than write more, I will just post some of my favorite songs. I listened to him a lot.
