There are multiple stories, like this one, regarding the bizarre turn of events at the top of the Moms For “Liberty” organization. But it also points to a larger problem with both GOP operators and right-wing reporting.

A recurring cliché on Fox News has been interviewees who slander liberals while being identified as merely "concerned parents." Then, a bit of fact-checking reveals them to be major players, often officials, in their local GOP organization. That was a strong suspicion when Moms For "Liberty" popped up a couple of years ago, claiming to be a "grassroots" organization of "concerned parents"—that invented problems designed to enrage right-wingers.
