Occasionally, I may add a section or a link related to books… I am finished reading: On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King - I’ve read writer’s manuals that are more sophisticated and that have lots and lots of good exercises and other stuff but I like the way King weaves his work with his life here in a very basic and understandable way. I’m reminded a bit of a syllabus to one of David Foster Wallace’s classes at Northern Illinois that he taught using all popular fiction (including King!). Yes, you can write more sophisticated and “literary”— what ever that means— should you wish too but the basics of writing a successful piece of fiction are roughly the same. I like King’s memoir/writer’s guide and I think that it’s usually for remembering the bare basics. I am reading: The Assault on Reason by Al Gore [END] --- [1] Url: https://dailykos.com/stories/2023/12/1/2209025/-What-are-you-reading-December-1-2023?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=more_community&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
