I call BS [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-12-11 My wife and I have been Amazon customers since they only sold books! We have had less than 1 percent of problems with products from this source. Yeah, yeah, I hear the complainers about how bad this locale is for products, and again as with my headline, I call BS. I find that the Amazon marketplace is no different than shopping at any of the better known and well regarded brick and mortar stores. I discount WalMart since I have never held this retailer in any regard, and would never consider them as a source for products. We have been both regular Amazon shoppers and have been Prime shoppers, this one for several years now. I have received only a handful (five or less) purchase items that it was necessary to return. Even when I made a mistake in the ordering (entered wrong size, selected the wrong item or similar), my return was ALWAYS handled with care, courtesy and timeliness. In one outstanding example, when we were liveaboards on our 54 foot motor yacht, I ordered a “dock cart” to haul items from our car to our boat slip, the company sent the wrong one, size was not right, and when I called into the Amazon customer folks, they immediately apologized, and sent a replacement of the proper size. When I asked the customer rep how I should return the wrong unit, he told me that I should just keep it and not worry about the return. There was no charge, the incident was handled superbly and they increased my faith in their organization. I don’t understand people whining about product type, quality, etc. Frankly, do your due diligence when shopping online, from any facility including Amazon. Again, we have had outstanding experiences in the many years (more than 16) that we have been Amazon members. Our Amazon Prime Video offers an outstanding selection of movies, video series, such as Eureka, Ms. Maisel, Reacher, Jesse Stone, and other special viewing selections. I have an extensive library of books from Amazon, including those acquired as hardcopy during the early days and hundreds of digital books in my reading library. ALL from Amazon and ALL good quality, great service and ability to return/replace titles. So, sooooo sorry for the other person’s “bad” experience with Amazon. Not really, because I have not experienced a Bad Amazon trial. Neither has members of my family, including extended members. Perhaps if one feels so put upon, they should simply relinquish their membership and quietly shop elsewhere. As for us? We will continue to experience the good shopping and conveniences of the Amazon web site, timely delivery, and ease of returns or other service. And we for darn sure will continue to love our Prime Video. Heck I got to watch a movie that I enjoyed back as a teenager/young person by checking throughout the Prime Video selection. Strategic Air Command with Jimmy Stewart was extremely enjoyable and I continue to look for other old film classics along with new and recent films or series. As for Amazon’s labor troubles, one I do not believe all the horror stories, and if on the off chance they were actually true, the bull shit about not getting bathroom breaks is flat out illegal. DOL enforcement should be called upon if these egregious acts are being perpetrated. As for the actual union engagements, Amazon is no different from a majority of large companies who continue to fight against labor unions and the union efforts. This has been the case since Ronald Reagan’s regime. Through is backstabbing actions (he was a member of the Actor’s union), Reagan and his administration gave the green light to corporate world companies when he fired the entire staff of the Air Traffic Controllers. I point to every single large corporation that does not have a union for it’s members as the same, no damn different, from Amazon’s resistance to organized labor actions. As for the tale that Amazon fires anyone who engages in union support or activity, I call bull shit again, but on the off chance that they actually do fire someone for attempting to recruit members for labor representation, I will (as a former union official in my union days), speak to the illegality of such actions. Those who may have been subjected to this anti-union termination should report this to the Federal Agency in charge and those who have terminated a person for union activity will be investigated, fined and sanctioned. As for the public teat? What public teat? Amazon is not taking taxpayer money for grants or research, you much be thinking about Exxon, Shell, or the other damn fossil fuel companies who have been receiving billions of taxpayer dollars each damn year and still do even with their obscene profits and their manipulation of fuel prices to scam the public who have to buy gas or diesel, of heating fuel, natural gas. So spare me the whiney crap about Amazon and the so called public teat, not happening unless they have some government contract for supplies that was awarded through competitive bidding. Enough? Yeah, no matter what I write, and no matter what position, whiners, and certain supporters of the Republican political class, will never accept fact and science positions. So, got a bit release off my shoulders by this post. Never posted to Kos pubs before and probably will be a long time before another. Love me so Amazon Shopping!!! From the old Geriatric Curmudgeon and his blog points.
