People Who Can't Thrive in a Free Society (VIDEO) [1]

Why has the force of fascism arisen in America in recent times?

Part of the answer is that people who are broken in some ways can’t avail themselves of the opportunities offered by a free society — e.g. to find their own truths, their own meanings, their own path in life. They are more comfortable in a society structured to enforce such things on everyone, and a society that is invested in making conflict, thus externalizing the inner conflicts of people who are not able to harmonize their own nature with the harsh social demands they internalized growing up in their families and communities.

Another part of the answer is that the “free society” might fail to convey adequately the truths and values that underly the concept of a society like the one America’s founders fashioned. If the deep meanings of such freedom get hollowed out, and the messages no longer inspire the citizenry, then those people most in need of such inspiration and meaning can find it in a fascist movement. (Like the ecstatic throngs in the Nuerenberg Square in the 1930s, and the devoted members of the Trump cult who attend the Trump rallies.)

The 2024 Election — being at its heart a battle between the Free Society and the Fascist Society — calls for a campaign in which the defenders of Democracy deliver an inspiring message about the blessings of a society where people are given the room to become their authentic selves, to live the life they feel called to live.
