"Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right"--and Together, They Roll Out the Red Carpet for the Right Wing [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-12-13 If anyone even hints that demanding a ceasefire is anti-Semitic in any way, shape, or form, I won't take it. I'll spell out what I think about all this: At this time, the best ally neo-nazi right-wing anti-Semites have is Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Whether willingly or unwillingly, he's fueling antisemitism worldwide. He's furnishing hateful evil anti-Semites with some less hateful grounds to further ignite their hate. Moreover, he's building justified, humanitarian opposition across the globe, including opposition from many of his own people and from a very large number of Jewish religious leaders. Out of the non-Jewish opponents, many will never turn anti-Semite--but there'll be some who'll drink into the anti-Semites' kool-aid--and will become hateful anti-Semites too. Whether or not he realizes it, Netanyahu is providing hateful neo-nazi anti-semites with silver platters for them to pass around their kool-aid to unsuspecting sectors of public opinion, initially only worried about Netanyahu's merciless response to Hamas's horrendous horrific attack. There's absolutely no justification whatsoever for Hamas's hateful, brutal, atrocious, savage, appalling attack on innocent Israeli civilians, including children, on October 7. 2023. Yet, not all Palestinians support Hamas. A more or less recent survey shows that only 30% of Gazans under 30 and only 23% over 30 support Hamas. Poorer Gazans are less likely to support Hamas by comparison to the very few wealthier ones. We all know that "two wrongs don't make a right." That's totally true. No doubt about that. Still, by playing with the words, I'll give you my own version of that aphorism as it applies to this case. Definitely, two wrongs don't make it better for anyone. The cost herein is thousands of innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives, including children's lives. But the whole situation together makes one big, huge, gigantic, and extremely dangerous evil right-wing triumph. Two wrongs don't make it right if we think of "right" as a synonym for 'correct' and 'fair.' Yet, these two wrongs conjure up to make it a win for the bloodthirsty right wing. I wouldn't be surprised if clever, evil, hateful right-wing masterminds are behind all this bloodshed, all this massacre, all this human pain and humanitarian catastrophe. I wouldn't be surprised if Netanyahu happens to be led by his nose, too--by imposter advisors not serving Jewish best interests but the interests of their hateful enemies. Besides the huge blood spill, another extremely bad and extremely dangerous outcome of the Israeli-Gaza conflagration is the simultaneous worldwide increase of antisemitism and Islamophobia. And that sounds exactly like a huge right-wing win. In the eyes of many, Biden's image may have been adversely impacted by his steadfast support of Israel. And the wring win celebrates. In my personal opinion, for which I assume full responsibility, I strongly believe that Netanyahu is causing the Jewish community worldwide similar harm to the undeniable damage that the so-called "Christian" nationalism or "religious" right is causing Christianity all over the globe. The outcome of Netanyahu's hard-line position is an increase in antisemitism. Similarly, the outcome of "Christian" nationalism is a considerable weakening of the Christian faith. Those are all right-wing advances against humankind. Whether or not you agree with my perspective, it's human lives we're talking about. Innocent Palestinian and Israeli lives. Children's lives. There are lots of ceasefire petitions going around. Some are faith-based—but, of course, open to all. For God’s sake, even if you don’t believe in Him, sign at least one. Or, even better, sign them all!!
