Beat Medicare Advantage at its own game and healed the poor. [1]

My Medicare Advantage plan has an over-the-counter amount of 500 dollars. This is for me to use to buy medicines I might need such as pain killers, tooth paste, tooth brushes, Nyquil, band aides etc.. As of now, I have still got 220 dollars available. So, I went up to CVS and spent this money on over-the-counter medicines and then took it up to a church which allows people to sleep in their basement at night during the wintertime. If I didn’t use it by the end of the year, it disappeared and went back into the pocket of the insurance company.

I don’t know if all Advantage plans have this benefit, but I am sure many do. If you are in the Christmas spirit and have OTC money available, this would be the time to use it before the end of the year. Mine will renew and I will have another 500 dollars starting in Jan so there is no skin off my teeth and I am helping some person who has fallen on bad times.
