Far-right fanatics in Cobb County schools district office [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-12-15 The Cobb County Courier (GA) has an expose on three employees at the Cobb County Schools District Office being connected to the far-right, anti-LGBTQ advocacy group American Vision, which is labeled as a hate group by the SPLC. Two of the three are in leadership positions, and two used to work for American Vision. I don’t see this as particularly scandalous — it does not look like American Vision is attempting to infiltrate the School District or anything like that. However, since these folk are running the communications office, it may explain why statements from the Cobb County School District have a fanatically hyperpartisan tone , but that could also originate from the elected board members. This is concerning, but probably not unexpected given the overall politics of Cobb County and the School District. American Vision is headquartered in Cobb County and while it only has 12 employees, its executives seem to control several other operations that provide other employment opportunities. I think that their involvement with American Vision demonstrates poor judgement and lack of fairness that would be disqualifying for leadership positions, but powerful people in Cobb County clearly disagree. p.s. This was picked up by another Atlanta-area news outlet, who got a quote from a Democratic politician, but no further investigation.
