Passwords, sure. But for some lucky customers, “names, contact information, last four digits of social security numbers, dates of birth and/or secret questions and answers” as well, according to the email I got today. Why do you suppose it took the monopoly company eight weeks to let us know? Here’s a hint. It turns out Senator Cruise (try googling “Smarmy Ted”) was about to send an important letter to the Federal Communications Commission on just the topic of data security rules for the broadband monopoly industry. Shocker spoiler alert: he’s against them.
