Hi beer fans, happy Friday! And happy Christmas!

The religious right loves to bray about “put Christ back in Christmas”, but they don’t mean like this. Like Ricky Bobby they worship the little baby Jesus, not the grown man who scared both the civil and religious authorities.

And perhaps we give a little to the poor If the generosity should seize us But if any one of us should interfere In the business of why there are poor They get the same as the rebel Jesus

Deschutes is one of the breweries that I will always recommend. Everything they sell is good; some are IMO classics of their style, and one of those is Jubelale. This is an old-school “winter warmer”, a strong-ish (6.7% abv) dark ale whose promised “spice notes” are from the malt and hops but not any added spices.

I’m packing tonight for my annual trip to visit SoCal relatives. Gotta remember my Firestone growler, and I already know what it will return filled with.
