Street Prophets Friday: Lights and Cookies [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2023-12-22 Greetings and welcome to another bit of gingerbread-spiced fluff. It'll take me an extra bit of time to get in to the spirit of things today. My mind is on the horrific mass shooting incident that happened in Prague yesterday. The shooter was a college student around the same age as my own sons. Many of the 14 people killed were college students. I made the mistake of reading some comments under a friend's post on social media about the incident. You'd think the NRA was sponsoring idiots to troll Czech Facebook posts. It was all there, all the tropes translated word for word into Czech. So— here I am, resisting the urge to give in to futile rage and waste the rest of my week lecturing the trolls. Someone's wrong on the internet. Ah fluff, I need fluff. Fluff A pic of Prague Castle from the Old Town side of the river Been a good year for cookies. Made a quadruple batch of my mother's favorite sugar cookies. See the holly leaves and Samoyed-shaped cookies on the tray ready to be baked? My mom made the Samoyed cookie cutter from a piano-shaped cutter. Yesterday, after I'd finished my English lessons, I went downtown to meet up with Mrs the Werelynx and some of our friends who were strolling through the heart of the city, enjoying the sights and lights. It was raining pretty hard at the bottom of Wenceslas Square. We made our way to a restaurant for a late dinner Eventually we got to Old Town Square. As it was a bit late in the evening and there was still a bit of rain coming down, the crowds weren't as overwhelming as they can be during the day. It was indeed pretty windy. Today the wind was much stronger though -- On our way to the subway station, just the other side of the beautifully ornate Powder Gate I got out shopping today and bought our Christmas Carp. I braved quite an impressive blizzard to do so. I did take a picture of the aftermath. Okay, so it's not much to look at, but we didn't have any snow at all around here just a couple hours earlier— and, um, it's all gone now. We were this close to having a white Christmas. Our Advent Wreath and a sample plate of our Christmas cookies this year. Sharp-eyed Prophets might recognize a couple Ultimate Ginger Cookies on the right side. Perhaps some more about the cookies in the comments. Thanks for stopping by. This is an open thread.
