The passing of LamontCranston [1]

The last posting by LamontCranston was December 31, 2022 at 8:32 am. It is the first link I have embedded in this diary.

In case you missed getting to know this fine example of humanity, look no further than a few of his past diaries. That is how I got to know the man. It was not just from the words presented in his articles but the interaction he had with his audience (the readers and commenters) that gave me a sense of the wholesomeness I could expect any time we connected.

I joined Daily Kos in June 2019 and browsed (lurked in the shadows) for a few months to see what all the “Hub-bub” (that my business partner, and Dkos member, hay seed) raved over. I found I was attracted to specific groups and certain writers (as I think most members are). I’d made a few tentative comments and was encouraged to participate more. I found this diary by Lamont and connected to him, the idea and other contributors to the comments.

You will notice that photos and videos are missing from most of Lamont’s articles. He (like too many older Dkos members) were caught up in the Pintrest Purge and lost access to photo files. That may slow a few people down because using visual illustrations helps drive home points of importance.

The Morning Open Thread link below is when I got to know the man behind his ideals. I hope you’ll read the article even if you don’t consume all of the comments (but you’ll miss half of the fun and antics).

LC passed away at home a few days before Christmas this year. He and his wife Elke had completed their annual trip overseas and were beginning to settle into their winter routines. The abruptness of his passing will silently blanket the NC mountains with the sorrow.
