The Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers Sun Bowl Parade starts at 10 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, along Montana Avenue from Ochoa Street to Copia Street. This year’s theme is “Mardi Gras, El Paso Style” and the grand marshals are Jimmy Rogers Jr. and John Folmer. The parade will air live on KTSM Channel 9 and online at ktsm.com. Holiday Lights on the Lake, by the county of El Paso, kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Ascarate Park, 6900 Delta Drive, and for the first time will feature the popular Fred Loya synchronized light show. The holiday display is open daily through Dec. 25, with synchronized light shows, vendors and food trucks Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Appearances by Santa and the Grinch. Free admission. Information: epcountyparks.com. WinterFest: The city of E Paso’s annual winter holiday event runs daily through Jan. 1 at San Jacinto Plaza and the Arts Festival Plaza in Downtown. The event features lights displays, ice-skating, music and entertainment, and arts and food vendors at the holiday market. Free admission; ice rink prices vary. Special activities at the El Paso Museum of Art and El Paso Museum of History, as well as aboard the El Paso Streetcar. Information: epwinterfest.com. Holiday Movies at the Plaza Theatre: As part of WinterFest, holiday classics like “A Christmas Story” will be shown on Sundays through Dec. 18 at the Plaza Theatre, 125 Pioneer Plaza. Free admission.
