(Kolker died in a Moscow detention center on June 30. He was 54 years old.) A source told Mediazona that officials likely asked a random doctor to declare Kolker fit to stand trial, leading to a misdiagnosis of prostate disease. Records in Kolker’s case also include hospital discharge documents confirming his terminal cancer, though the authorities nevertheless insisted on keeping him behind bars.
