⚕️ Treason-accused scientist who died in jail was misdiagnosed in police paperwork: Journalists at Mediazona have uncovered documents showing a misdiagnosis in the medical exam carried out on scientist Dmitry Kolker, who was arrested on June 30 on treason charges and jailed, despite suffering from terminal pancreatic cancer. (Kolker died in a Moscow detention center on June 30. He was 54 years old.)

A source told Mediazona that officials likely asked a random doctor to declare Kolker fit to stand trial, leading to a misdiagnosis of prostate disease. Records in Kolker’s case also include hospital discharge documents confirming his terminal cancer, though the authorities nevertheless insisted on keeping him behind bars. (A Novosibirsk court recently dismissed a lawsuit claiming that Kolker was wrongfully imprisoned.)
