According to the Telegram channel Baza, one flight affected by the delays contained a delegation of Taliban officials who were scheduled to take part in the KazanForum international economic conference that morning. In April 2024, Tatarstan suffered a drone attack for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine. That attack hit a dormitory in the region’s Alabuga Special Economic Zone and an oil refinery in the city of Nizhnekamsk.
