I’m not participating — I’m leading an ‘undesirable organization.’ They could have immediately [come up with] something more serious instead of wasting time on trifles. Second of all, I don’t care at all,” Timchenko said in a comment to Mediazona. The Russian authorities outlawed Meduza as an “undesirable organization” in January 2023. According to Mediazona’s tally, since the start of 2024, Russian courts have registered at least 19 misdemeanor protocols for “participation in the activities” of independent media outlets Russia has designated as “undesirable organizations.” This includes 12 cases opened against Meduza readers, employees, and contributors, including journalists Svetlana Reiter and Dmitry Kuznets. read more If it’s a fight they want, it’s a fight they’ll get Meduza responds to the Russian authorities’ decision to outlaw our journalism read more If it’s a fight they want, it’s a fight they’ll get Meduza responds to the Russian authorities’ decision to outlaw our journalism [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.meduza.io/en/news/2024/05/27/russia-accuses-meduza-co-founder-galina-timchenko-of-participation-in-an-undesirable-organization Published and (C) by Meduza Content appears here under this condition or license: Creative Commons CC BY 4.0. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/meduza/
