SHAPE's Partnership Directorate holds Command Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference in Qatar [1]

DOHA - The SHAPE Partnership annual Command Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference was held in Doha, Qatar in tandem with the Military Strategic Partnerships Conference 2023 from Mar. 13 – 17, 2023.

Partnership Directorate Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Warrant Officer Steven Catherwood held the event which included a variety of NATO-wide operational, strategic topics and briefings.

This annual event provides an excellent opportunity to inform and educate the partner senior Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) on many issues, including NATO Force structure activities and events, partnership activities that focus on NCO development and latest updates on military subjects.

Partnership Directorate Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Warrant Officer Steven Catherwood briefs attendees of the SHAPE Partnership annual Command Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference in Doha, Qatar.

“This year has seen a significant increase in interest and attendance in Partner CSEL activity. The war in Ukraine has undoubtedly focused attention on the significant value of the NCO structure and CSEL's are pivotal in reinforcing this essential role in peace and war,” said warrant Officer Catherwood, Partnership CSEL based at SHAPE. “It is clear to me that those who attended fully understand the importance of the NCO contribution, where it has always been a force multiplier. The briefing given to us by the Ukrainian CSEL only underpinned what can be achieved with structure, training and the moral component.”

The next key event for the Partnership CSEL community will focus on the International CSEL Conference 2023 (ICC 23) where all Partner and Allied CSELs will gather and further discuss NCO development topics and outcomes from the MSPC.
