JFC Naples Honours International Women's Day Emphasizing Diversity as Alliance's Strength [1] [] Date: 2024-03 NAPLES, Italy – In observance of International Women's Day, Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Naples is showcasing its commitment to an inclusive and diverse work environment that reinforces the strength of the Alliance. "As an Alliance of many nations, diversity is our strength, but only when our diverse organization values the perspectives and opinions of all of our people. Promoting inclusion is a daily endeavor and requires sustained organizational effort and commitment," said Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, Commander of JFC Naples. Antonella Carbone, head of Civilian HR at JFC Naples discussed her role, and how JFC Naples is setting the standard towards an inclusive environment. Since becoming Head Civilian Human Resources, her focus has been on the people element of the Organisation. She has sought to promote proactive measures conducive to a healthy work environment characterised by diversity and inclusion, and a consideration for the values and cultural sensitivities of all personnel, military and civilian, men and women, working for the Alliance, in which harassment, bullying and discrimination have no place. As an Alliance of many nations, diversity is our strength, but only when our diverse organization values the perspectives and opinions of all of our people “Today is a day in which it is appropriate to take stock of what NATO JFCNP has achieved, and the ongoing and new challenges that face us.” The recent approval of JFC Naples Directive 48-08 A healthy Work Environment – Zero Tolerance of Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination goes far in encouraging progressive mindsets and inclusive behaviors. The first Awareness Training Workshop for A Healthy Work Environment has been successfully conducted and others are soon to follow. Furthermore, particular attention to gender-inclusive language is now a feature of most forms of spoken and written communication within the Command. The Civilian Human Resources Management recruitment team’s concerted effort to adopt gender-inclusive language in job announcements and enhance inclusive hiring, highlights front-line support for gender equality within the Establishment, however, whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. “There is a lot of work to do and it will take time, however, my office is firmly committed to women’s equality and positive change by challenging the historic legacy of the “gender norms” underpinning bias and supporting the significant role women can play to drive the process for an inclusive working environment.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://jfcnaples.nato.int/newsroom/news/news-archive/2024/jfc-naples-honours-international-womens-day-emphasizing-diversity-as-alliances-strength.aspx Published and (C) by NATO Content appears here under this condition or license: in acordance with "Requirements for the external use of NATO content.". via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/nato/
