This agreement is IReL’s twentieth open access agreement and its first with a fully open access publisher. The agreement, which runs from 1 February 2022 to 31 December 2024, will be available to eligible Irish authors of articles accepted for publication in the journals: PLOS Digital Health, PLOS ONE, PLOS Computational Biology, PLOS Pathogens, PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases and PLOS Genetics. “The Irish Library Consortium shares our commitment to building business models that will move researchers and journals toward a more equitable and barrier free form of publishing,” said Sara Rouhi, Director of Strategic Partnerships for PLOS. “We are excited to partner with them and together we hope to bring permanent change to scholarly publishing.” “It’s very exciting to have signed our first agreement with a fully open access publisher. Researchers in Irish universities have favoured publishing in PLOS journals for many years, so we’re very happy to help them continue this without author-facing charges” said Susan Reilly, IReL Director.
