Aging in Human Health and Disease [1] [] Date: 2023-03 Advances in modern medicine mean many people can expect to live far longer than in previous generations. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people aged 60 years and older will increase to 1.4 billion by 2030 and 2.1 billion by 2050*. At a global level, the growing aging population currently presents a challenge to health and social care systems, and is expected to increase significantly. In this Call for Papers, PLOS ONE aims to highlight the broad scope of multidisciplinary research in the area of aging. We are calling for submissions that examine aging in human health and disease. In particular, we welcome qualitative submissions exploring societal and cultural impacts on care of age-associated diseases. All article types in scope for PLOS ONE are welcomed, and we particularly encourage the submission of protocols (Registered Report Protocols, Study Protocols and Lab Protocols).
